19 months........
How quickly it goes by. I still see the baby in him (those eyelashes, those cheeks) but I am seeing more and more of a big boy. We think he looks like Michelle and we catch glimpses of Nunu too. But he definitely has his own look. We had been keeping his hair really long but he keeps getting sand and food ground into it so it was time to cut it really close. He HATES the clippers. In fact, when he see them come out of the drawer, he runs away crying. It takes both of us to hold him down. I don't know if it is the sound or the vibration that scares him, but what ever it is, it makes cutting his hair a chore. He loves to do his hair though. When we get out of the bath he loves to get the hair cream and rub it between his hands and then on his hair. He loves his lotion and helps with that too (after tasting it first....always). He is quite a wiggle worm to dress, but always has a smile on his face--even when he is being a stinker--so it is hard to stay mad at him. He LOVES Go Diego Go on Nick Jr. and can sing "ohhhh, ahhhhh" from the beginning. He also loves the song "The wheels on the bus"..Especially the "shh, shh, shh" part. We sing "I am a child of God" at night before prayers at bedtime and also "Would you like to visit the moon". He is a singer and loves music. He will dance to anything and has a really funny dance. If I can catch it on video one day I will be lucky. The only thing he loves more then dancing is seeing himself on video. He is 19 pounds and still pretty small (still in 12 month clothes). The doctor is a little bit worried about his bowed legs, but we are hoping he will grow out of it before he needs surgery. He can throw a ball and will make a truck out of any kind of toy, but also loves to play with Lauren's babies and purses and dress up. He loves to wrestle her to the ground too. He is pretty easy going.
Cubby is starting to talk. He has known how to say the word "please" for a while now (that was his first word) but he doesn't use it as often as I would like. He now can say "this" "what is it", and "owwwww" (as in ouch...but he doesn't know what it means). He also is doing quite a few signs. I am teaching both kids baby sign language and Cubby is a natural. He can sign "milk" and "more". He also does that really cute baby chatter when he is talking and making sounds, but he is the only one that knows what they mean. He gets a really serious and earnest look on his face when he does it........it won't be long now before he is a chatty as his older sister. He is a big eater too. His favorite things is fruit...Banana's and peaches. He will eat cheese and anything spicy. He will take big bites out of lemons and not even make a face. He will not eat cereal or peanut butter. Since that is all Lauren will eat, it makes lunch and breakfast interesting. He can feed himself and has just started wanting to use a spoon to feed himself. He will even try and spoon up his toast! Anything with ketchup on it will get eaten too. That is a sure fire way to make sure something gets eaten.
We just got back from a really fun visit with Grandma and Grandpa. We met up with all the cousins for Easter and had a really fun Easter Egg hunt at Aunt Cyndi's. He has a cousin who is just older then him and just younger so there is lots of company. Grandma loves having those kids for visits and Cubby loves his Grandma. He will sit on her lap and read books for a long time. Grandpa gives him popsicles, so he gets lots of attention too. Uncle Brad came home from his mission and he got to meet Cubby for the first time. It was a really fun visit.
Things are starting to get really warm here and we will hit the pool for the first time in a few days. Both Lulu and Cubby will be in swim lessons this year. Cubby loves water and doesn't even mind if his face goes under. We decided to teach him water safety before he gets into trouble. He still sleeps really well all night long and takes really long naps. He just had his first trip to the dentist and was a good boy. He sat so still the whole time they were doing his teeth I was so proud. He is a daddy's boy right now and will cry if Derek leaves the room. His favorite thing is to go upstairs to the weight room and help his Daddy exercise. He can lift the 5 pound weights!!! He is so strong.
